Oier Baraibar is pursuing his PhD on circumstellar disks and jets throughout stellar evolution under the supervision of Dr. Mayra Osorio and Dr. Guillem Anglada. Oier began collaborating with the Institute of Astrophysics of Andalusia (CSIC) in the Star and Planet Formation and Evolution group in 2023 as a Physics undergraduate student at the University of the Basque Country. He later completed the Master’s Degree in Physics and Mathematics at the University of Granada (UGR) while working with the group through a JAE-Intro ICU 2023 fellowship.

His doctoral thesis focuses on “Disks and jets throughout stellar evolution.” Oier is particularly interested in debris disks in exoplanetary systems as mature as our Sun, whose dust emission can be detected thanks to the high sensitivity of instruments such as the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) and the Very Large Array (VLA).
Additionally, Oier is working on developing an online catalog of models for the thermal dust emission from expanding envelopes and disks around evolved post-AGB stars. His goal is to characterize this material and address the question: Is the mass of the circumstellar material sufficient to form a second generation of planets?
