The Spfe group is committed to gender strategies, to promote the access of women of all ages to scientific knowledge, and to promote and encourage the access of women to STEM studies. In this sense, one of its members has been part of the “Comisión de la Mujer y Astronomía” of the Spanish Society of Astronomy (SEA), and has actively participated in several activities organized by this commission with gender equality as a central theme, such as talks (especially on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science), interviews, exhibitions, web pages, dedicated meetings, or on-line activities (e.g., “chat with an astronomer”). A change for the better is possibly not so much about making more statistics (well known) of the number of women versus men, but that the actions themselves make these statistics unnecessary.
