With deep sorrow we would like to inform you of the news of the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Robert Estalella, on November 19, 2024.

We would like to inform, with deep sorrow, of the passing of our colleague and friend Robert Estalella Boadella at the age of 76. Robert, professor emeritus of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Barcelona, had recently retired, but was still more active than ever.

Robert was a person, kind, educated, cultured and with an impressive programming ability that he maintained even in his later years. He overcame several serious illnesses. He always pulled through.Despite his convalescence he showed great enthusiasm for tackling any Radioastronomy problem.

Robert is being considered as the first Spanish radiostronomer by some people (and sorry if I have forgotten his contemporaries), we have been told that he is considered the father of Radioastronomy in Spain.

The whole star and planetary formation group of the IAA was very affected by this news, especially our leader Guillem Anglada, because Robert was his PhD thesis director. Together they initiated the Star Formation line in Barcelona, together they wrote the book “Física de medio interestelar” that has served as a basis for many generations of young people in this country and Latin America. They maintained a scientific and friendly collaboration for more than 45 years, a collaboration that lasted until the last moment.

Robert left several generations of radio astronomers, he had academic great-grandchildren. We still cannot get over his departure, but he has left us a great legacy not only to the more consolidated researchers, but also to the younger ones.

Our condolences to the star formation group in Barcelona and to his dear family.

With deep sorrow we would like to inform you of the news of the passing of our dear friend and colleague, William Fischer, on April, 2024.

We would like to inform, with deep sorrow, of the passing of our colleague and friend William Fischer at the age of 44.

It was with great sorrow that we heard the news of the sad demise of our dear friend and colleague Alex Raga. He passed away on Thursday 20th July 2023.

We could like to acknowledge Alex’s brilliant career. Alex was a worldwide expert in astrophysical jet simulations, and above all a good fried and colleague. Those of us who had the privilege of working and knowing him will never forget his capability of explaining difficult questions in a way everyone could understand, and his spontaneous smile and good sense of humor.
